Services
Anger, anxiety, relationship distress, and family conflict are areas I address with various clients. Although I work with the spectrum of gendered clients, I specialize working with men in their interpersonal skills and emotions.
Credentials
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Master of Arts in Counseling from Houston Baptist University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor trained with Gottman Method for Couples Counseling, Play Therapy, and EMDR.
Counseling Approach
1) Existential/Experiential - I approach therapy with the assumption that individuals strive for personal meaning in their life, as they face the dilemmas of being alone, isolated, and finite. Meaning and understanding is best done in the here-and-now of therapy. My direction is to bring the experience of awareness in session, rather than only talk about the pain.
2) Attachment Based - I also assume that many relationship and interpersonal patterns are a result of established attachment experiences that come from earlier learnings. I attempt to help develop more secure bonds that come with less anxiety and depression in relationships.
3) Mindfulness - I assume that awareness is key to understanding. Mindfulness is an essential state of mind to become more present and aware of the changing states around and within a person. This means developing the ability to become more aware of our flowing moods, attitude, and thoughts.
4) Behavioral - Lastly, I assume change in behaviors is key to improvement. After experience and awareness occur, individuals must see actual, measurable change in their lives to develop.
